These steps walk you through connecting your device, installing firmware, creating a wallet or restoring from a recovery seed, and setting best-practice security.

Quick setup

  1. Download Trezor Suite — Choose Desktop or Web. Use the official installer to avoid phishing sites.
  2. Connect your device — plug in your Trezor (Model One, Model T, or Safe series) using the supplied cable.
  3. Install or update firmware — follow on-screen prompts in Trezor Suite. Verify the firmware ID on the device display before accepting.
  4. Create or recover wallet — select “Create new” to generate a new recovery seed, or “Recover wallet” to enter an existing seed phrase.
  5. Store your recovery seed securely — write it down on paper (or use a metal backup) and keep it offline. Never store the seed on a computer or cloud service.
  6. Set a PIN — pick a PIN you can remember; the device enforces anti-brute-force measures.
  7. Start managing assets — add accounts in Trezor Suite, receive and send supported cryptocurrencies, and enable additional security features (passphrase, U2F, etc.).
Security reminder:

Always verify the page URL and certificate in your browser, never share your recovery seed, and only use official software from trusted sources.

Important security tips

FAQ

What happens if I lose my Trezor device?

If you have your recovery seed, you can restore your wallet on another compatible device. Without the seed, funds cannot be recovered.

Can Trezor be hacked?

Trezor uses secure hardware and strong cryptography. The most common risks are user errors (exposed seed, phishing). Follow security best practices to minimize risk.

Should I update firmware immediately?

Yes — official firmware updates often fix vulnerabilities and improve stability. Only install firmware that is delivered via Trezor Suite and verified on the device.
